There’s Always Work Out There for Those Who Are Willing to Do It
So, don’t be too proud to roll up your sleeves and do what you gotta do to survive.
RECENTLY I READ AN ARTICLE that discussed the effects a market crash could have on those who make a living in the content economy — writers, content creators, course creators etc. — and what they could do to prepare for such an event.
The synopsis of the article was that when times are hard and money is scarce people are less likely to splash out on luxuries such as your content or courses. So, to give yourself the best possible chance of staying afloat through tough times you should be thinking ahead and taking action today by making tons of money, banking it, growing your income streams and learning some marketable skills.
And while I do agree with the vague generic advice given in the article, I also believe there is another point that could have been included in the piece.
There’s always work out there for those who are willing to do it.
Whether it be hitting up a construction site for some labour hire work, picking up a shift in your local restaurant washing dishes or getting elbows deep in a stranger’s toilet with a cleaning job, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do to survive.
(A good tip when searching for work amidst hard times is to look for things people generally don’t wanna do themselves — I’m thinking oven cleaning here. Nobody likes doing that.)
Yes, it may not be pretty. It may not be in the field or industry you wish to be working. And most likely you won’t enjoy it. But when you’ve got bills to pay and food to put on the table sometimes your pride has to take a back seat until you can get yourself back on track again.
So, if you ever find yourself going through tough times, struggling to make ends meet, don’t be too proud to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Because at the end of the day, there’s always work out there for those who are willing to do it.
Thanks for reading.
