How to Write a Viral Blog Post?
How to write a viral blog post? That’s the million-dollar question.
I’ve never written a viral blog post. At least nothing as impressive as I’ve seen other writers talk about online.
Bloggers sharing their stats; views, clicks, reads, shares, highlights, likes, claps, comments. Numbers that sore into the thousands. It blows my mind. How do they do it?
My highest ranking blog post in terms of views, reads and article engagement was this piece —I Stopped Drinking Then This Happened — which I published on Medium in January 2019 and it got 3.8K views.

How I got so many views on my article? I really don’t know. Mostly luck I presume. I never set out to create a viral blog post nor did I try any of the fancy tricks and tips widely shared by those bloggers in the know.
Keywords. Search engine optimization (SEO). Google trending topics. I never used any of these (consciously) and perhaps that’s where I’m going wrong when it comes to creating a blog post attractive to the masses?
Perhaps if I tried a little harder, put more thought into my articles, listened and actually took onboard the advice of those who have achieved high ranking blog posts in the past, then maybe, just maybe, one day I too could create such a successful piece.
How to write a viral blog post? That is the million-dollar question and at the moment, I’m not quite sure. But I’m gonna do what I can to find out.
I’m gonna experiment with keywords using one of the keyword tracking sites. I’m gonna think longer and harder about how my articles are formatted; the language used, how I present my message. And I’m going to go do some research into those who create viral blog posts time after time after time to see what they can teach me.
Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky. Maybe I’ll discover a formula that works well for me when it comes to creating viral blog posts and if I do, don’t worry, you’ll be the first to know.
